The CEE department welcomes Dr. Xitong Liu, who has joined us as an assistant professor. Prior to joining GW, Dr. Liu was a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. His research interests lie at the intersection of nanotechnology, interfacial and colloid science, and electrochemistry. His research aims to study fundamental interfacial phenomena to provide guidance for developing more efficient and cost-effective water treatment and resource recovery technologies. He is also interested in elucidating the health impacts of engineered and naturally occurring nanoparticles. Dr. Liu holds a Ph.D. in geography and environmental engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He was the recipient of the ACS C. Ellen Gonter Environmental Chemistry Award and Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students in 2017.
