SEAS Undergraduate Ambassadors

The SEAS Undergraduate Ambassadors program is a student leadership opportunity for rising juniors and seniors. The program supports the development of the SEAS community through Ambassadors’ participation in admissions events, community outreach activities, special programming, and peer mentoring within their respective majors. The Ambassadors are representatives of SEAS, their respective departments, and a variety of special populations such as transfer students, international students, and student athletes. Throughout their time serving as an ambassador, students gain invaluable leadership experience, communication skills, public speaking, and mentoring skills.

Saachi

SEAS Ambassadors Co-President

Hello! I'm Saachi, and I'm a senior. I'm majoring in Systems Engineering and minoring in Computer Science and Public Health. I'm also a member of the GW chapter of WYSE (Women and Youth Supporting Each Other), where I, along with the other members of the org, mentor girls at a DC public school.  I am a peer tutor with academic commons. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my dog and my friends and discovering cool music/places to eat.

SEAS Ambassadors Co-President

Hi everyone! My name is Kate, and I am a senior Biomedical engineering major. I currently do research in Professor Murray Loew’s Medical Imaging and Analysis Laboratory, where I work on a project related to the use of thermal imaging to detect breast cancer. I am involved in many organizations on campus, including Tau Beta Pi, the Biomedical Engineering Society, and the Society of Women Engineers! Summer 2021 I will be interning at the National Institute of Health. In my free time you can find me either busting a move or settling in with a good book!

Hi! My name is Aisha and I am a sophomore Computer Science major, and am part of the University Honors Program. During spring and summer 2020, I interned at a small entrepreneurial start-up company as a machine learning software engineer where I managed their databases for data visualization systems. Now, I’m interested in information and technology management. I am currently a sister and the historian for the engineering sorority Alpha Omega Epsilon, and social media director for Spoon University. Outside of school, I enjoy photography, exploring and spending time with my friends, and watching a lot of Netflix and Disney! 

 

Ryan

Events Chair

Hi everyone! My name is Ryan Fisk. I'm a Senior Computer Science major and second year Ambassador! One of my favorite things about computer science is the seemingly endless ways you can create software to make people's lives better! This summer I’ve been working as a research fellow as part of the SUPER program. Our project, SunneeD, is a multi-tenant power management system that allows multiple clients to use the same physical device while still accurately tracking each clients’ individual power usage. When I'm not in class, you can find me running around the DC area. I love being outside and exploring the city. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about Computer Science at GWU or what Ambassadors can do for you! 

 

Beth

Hi! I am Beth, a senior Systems Engineering student, with a minor in public health. I am concentrating in data analytics and am taking cyber security classes. I am a member of INCOSE, the International Council on Systems Engineering at GW. Most of my time is spent either in SEH studying or on the soccer field, as I play for The George Washington varsity womens’ soccer team. With my additional time I am very involved with the non profit The Grassroots Project. This summer I will be working at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT! 

 

Samir

Hi!  My name is Samir and I am a senior mechanical and aerospace  engineering student from Long Island, NY. I am currently the captain of the GW Baja team which is a team that designs, builds, and races a single seat  off-road vehicle in an international competition. Some of my interests  include Formula 1, football, soccer, the stock market, and chess. When I am  not studying, you can probably find me either in the SEH highbay or the machine shop.

 

Savana

Hi Everyone! My name is Savana and I am a senior civil engineering major with an interest in structures from Dayton, Ohio. I had a 2021 summer internship at Mortenson where I worked in BIM/ICC and a 2019 summer internship at Shell & Meyer Assoc. where I learned Revit. I was a Learning Assistant for Statics, and I was an Academic Assistant for CEE Senior Design. During my spring 2020 semester, I studied abroad in Dublin, Ireland. I am currently an AISC Steel Bridge Team Co-Captain, a sister in the engineering sorority Alpha Omega Epsilon, and am involved in ASCE. Outside of SEAS, I am a part of the GW Dems, and I love traveling and exploring DC.  

 

Anasia

My name is Anasia and I am a junior Biomedical Engineering major with a minor in Psychology. I am very interested in becoming a prosthetist and plan to take more courses to further prepare me for this. I am involved in several organizations on campus that include Engineers without Borders, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, Outreach Chair for the Society of Women Engineers, and I am also a tour guide :) In my free time I am studying in SEH, cooking, or leisurely reading a book. Ellie

Hello everyone! My name is Ellie and I am a sophomore studying civil engineering with a concentration in sustainability and transportation. I am from Portland, Maine and I love the natural beauty that comes along with it. On campus, I am part of a sustainable student organization called GreenGW and serve as treasurer. I also love to volunteer at elementary schools in DC, where I tutor and assist in enrichment programs through the Nashman Center. Outside of school, I intern at a non-profit called SafeBAE where I create social media content surrounding youth sexual violence advocacy. In any free time I can get my hands on, I practice yoga, baking nourishing vegan treats, and exploring the wonders D.C. has to offer! 

 

Alyssa

Hi everyone! My name is Alyssa and I am a junior Systems Engineering major with a concentration in Data Analytics and a minor in Business Administration. For the past two years, I have interned with a credit union consulting company, Callahan & Associates. I am so grateful for the professional and hands-on experience working on the Callahan Information Systems and Technology team has given me. I am the Vice President of the Engineers’ Council and an active member of Theta Tau, a professional engineering fraternity. Outside of school, I love trying out new restaurants around DC and exploring! 

 

Josh

Hey everyone! My name is Josh and I am a Biomedical Engineering major with a Biophysics minor from Massachusetts. In my free time, I am a member of the MedEngage student organization, serving as the Treasurer. For the past five summers, I’ve researched at MIT within the neuroscience and biology departments, specifically working with c. elegans. What drew me to choose Biomedical Engineering was my experience with research before my first year of college. In my free time, I enjoy exploring new places around DC, hanging out with friends, and being outdoors. 

 

Sarah

Hello! My name is Sarah and I am a junior studying Computer Science from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I currently assist in Professor Tim Wood’s research lab, working in Cloud Systems on an open source NetVM platform. I am also a learning assistant in the Computer Science department, mostly focusing on Introduction to Python. In previous summers I have been a Technology Services Intern at BNY Mellon, in Pittsburgh, where I worked on backend database development. Outside of SEAS, I love participating on the GW Club Swim Team, where I am the current secretary. I also enjoy going to the National Mall with friends when I have the time! 

 

Zoë

Hi everyone! My name is Zoë and I am from Brooklyn, New York. I am a junior studying Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Patent Law and a minor in Economics. I am a member of the Pre-Law Student Association and am also a member of the Baja Team at GW where we design and build a car to race at the Baja SAE competition in the spring. I am currently on the E-Board of the Women’s Club Rugby team as a lock! In addition to English I speak Dutch and am currently learning German. In my free time I watch soccer and F1, and I love to go biking, hiking, swimming, and sailing! Feel free to reach out with any questions or just to have a chat!

Hi, my name is Alejandro. I’m a junior majoring in Systems Engineering with a concentration in data analytics and a minor in business administration. I am thankful to be a Posse Scholar for GW. Outside of school, I enjoy anything that involves soccer, exploring new things, and spending quality time with my friends and family. I am super excited to meet and learn from you all!

Hello! My name is Helen, and I’m from Fairfax, Virginia. I’m a junior Biomedical Engineering student currently doing research in Professor Efimov’s Cardiac Engineering Laboratory. I’ve been working on a project creating and testing bioresorbable leadless battery-free pacemakers for neonatal and pediatric electrotherapy and love everything about being in a lab. I am also a member of the University Honors Program and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers as well as a SEAS Together tutor. When I’m not in SEH, I’m strength training, having a movie night with friends, or finding new places to eat :).

Hi everyone! My name is Jack and I am from Boston, Massachusetts. I am a senior majoring in Computer Science with a minor in History. My interests in Computer Science include artificial intelligence and my interests in History include wartime and diplomatic history. Outside of GW, I enjoy walking around the National Mall, finding awesome new restaurants, playing chess, hanging out with friends, and watching  TV shows and movies.

 

Maria

Hi there, everyone! My name is Maria DePasquale, and I am a proud member of the Class of 2023 studying Electrical Engineering. I am currently the Board Secretary of IEEE (The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) which has provided me the pleasure of becoming very familiar with my fellow ECE students. I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA, but Foggy Bottom has truly become a second home to me. I love to spend any free moment exploring DC and its many wonders – especially any crazy foods! 

 

Rubin

Hi everyone! My name is Rubin and I’m a junior from the Bay Area (Go Giants!) pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science. When not in class or doing schoolwork, I try to engage in service, read, or attend events at GW and around campus. I’m also involved in the aerospace community and currently serve as the on-board computers team-lead for the Cube Satellite Project. In my free time I usually enjoy walking along the mall, trying new food, and spending time with friends. 

Become a SEAS Undergraduate Ambassador

The SEAS Undergraduate Ambassadors are juniors and seniors who provide major-specific mentoring to sophomores as well as internal and external transfer students. The Ambassadors plan and execute programming throughout the year to support these student populations while serving as department liaisons for their majors. Additionally, they support and promote SEAS during recruitment and admissions events.

Each year the Undergraduate Ambassadors recruit, select, and train new ambassadors for the upcoming year. The recruitment process begins late in the fall semester and includes an application and an interview.
