Dr. Rumana Riffat has received a $147,161 award from Water Research Foundation for her research project “Partial denitrification/anammox as alternative pathway to achieve mainstream short-cut nitrogen removal.” The project will bring together a uniquely qualified team of academics, three advanced treatment utilities, and three engineering firms, with in-depth expertise and experience in biological nutrient removal design and optimization, post denitrification, deammonification, and short-cut nitrogen removal concepts.
